HI!
I'm Wendy Otis. I have been teaching for over twenty years. Prior to entering the teaching profession, I was a Chemist and then the owner/proprietor of a local dance studio. My first eight years of teaching were completed in the New York City Public Schools. There I taught a program called English Language Development through the Performing Arts-Dance, for four years, and after earning my MS in Elementary Education, I became a classroom teacher. I was fortunate to be placed in a Dual Language Gifted and Talented Program, teaching 2 years in fourth grade and 2 years in third grade. Subsequently I joined the River Edge School District in 2006, as a third grade teacher in Roosevelt School. I remained in third grade for 7 years and looped with my class to fourth grade and have continued teaching on this grade level. I received the great honor of being named the Roosevelt School Teacher of the Year 2013-2014. I am still very involved in the dance world and teach ballet and jazz for a local dance studio, as well as private coaching. I am also a choreographer and rehearsal mistress for the resident company. I tutor in many subject areas and grade levels. I love my work and am very happy to be a part of the River Edge School District. |
